History Education:
East Asian History Honors
Art History Honors
AP Art History
I have completed many graduate-level courses on East Asian History and have used my experiences working directly with artists, schools, and individuals from Asian and Central Asian countries to create an East Asian History Honors course which I have taught for several years.
In addition, I have taught Art History Honors classes. This year, I have been approved by the College Board to also teach AP Art History. As both of these courses are taught in the context of World History, they have become among my favorite classes to teach!

Below you will find an example of the front page of my Art History course created on "Canvas", our school's Learning Management System.
As you can see, the course is divided into specific modules, each containing a series of creative and academic tasks which students are required to complete to receive full credit.
All Modules are designed with a mix of differentiated assessments from traditional academic readings and quizzes, to creative projects designed to enhance students' experience with the subject and deepen their understanding of the material.

All of my courses are organized in this fashion as I have found this graphic and intuitive method of organizing course content helps to keep both online and in-person students on task.

Examples of Creative Activities and Assessments:
In my opinion, students learn best when they have an experiential connection to the content. With this in mind, I present students with a series of "Creative Tasks" which follow along the same timeline as their academic studies and reinforce the content.
This is an example of an activity presented while studying the Bronze Age: Students take part in a metal casting demonstration.
Example of Creative Assessment:
All Creative Assessments are designed with student success in mind. The Creative Assessment below is part of our module on the Rennaissance. After learning about this important era, students are tasked with learning Filipo Brunelleschi's system of 2-point perspective.
By following the step-by-step instructions below, they can all create a successful image. Online students can work asynchronously on such projects, while in-person students use this as a guide to reinforce hands-on instruction in class. All creative tasks include a Criteria for Success Rubric that they can follow to achieve good results.

Artist Xu Bing developed "Square Words", a writing system that utilizes the 8 basic strokes of Chinese calligraphy for English speakers and writers. Using this system, students can practice and appreciate the aesthetic of traditional calligraphy while writing in English..
